Your neck can be firm, well-defined, and youthful-looking by removing deposits of excess fat cells in it through liposuction. Won’t it be nice to view your profile without full or double chins? Liposuction works because your body produces only a certain number of fat cells, which grow and shrink depending on your weight. Once the cells are gone, your body will not replace them. Who is a candidate? Generally, younger patients without excessive muscle or skin laxity of the neck.
How Is It Done?
- Most patients receive a twilight anesthesia.
- We make 1 incision about ½ inch under the chin.
- A tiny, metal cannula is inserted, and fat cells are suctioned out.
- Nerves and blood vessels are not cut, so bleeding, numbness, and pain are minimized.
- The incision is closed with 3-4 dissolving sutures and flesh-colored tape.
- We often combine liposuction with the Thermacool procedure to help tighten the neck skin postoperatively.
Recovery
- A soft pressure dressing is worn overnight to reduce swelling and bruising.
- You’ll wear a head wrap when possible the first week to minimize swelling.
- Most of the bruising and swelling will recede in a week.
- Feel free to wear make-up the next day.
- Plan to return to your normal activities in a week.
- You can resume light exercise in 3 days and more exerting workouts in a week.
- You’ll see the final results in 3 months.
